The first batch of non-locally trained dentists have joined the Department of Health, and three of them have taken up their posts on the 10th of last month to provide dental services to the public.
Dr. Hui Mei-yin, chief consultant of dental services of the Department of Health, said that the three dentists obtained their professional dental qualifications from mainland and overseas institutions respectively, and had practiced in the mainland, the United Kingdom and Australia. They are fluent in Cantonese. The Department has provided them with a week of induction training, and they have been assigned to work in government dental clinics with dental street service.
The three dentists said that the Department of Health’s induction training covered infection control, medical record system operation and diagnosis process, which helped them to quickly adapt to the working environment. They look forward to staying in Hong Kong for long-term development and continuing to serve the community with their professionalism.
The Department of Health received more than 90 applications from non-locally trained dentists, and 12 appointment letters were issued after selection, including these three dentists. The Dental Council of Hong Kong is actively handling related registration matters.
