Dentsply Sirona has once again been named one of Newsweek’s “Most Responsible Companies in America.” The honor, announced today, marks the fourth time the diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies has received this prestigious distinction.
This prestigious ranking underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to more sustainable dentistry, including strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. Dentsply Sirona attributes its ranking to its ambitious sustainability program, “Beyond: Acting for a Better World,” and its associated initiatives.
“We are honored to receive this recognition. It demonstrates our long-standing commitment to improving oral healthcare access and creating healthy smiles around the world,” said Andrea Frohning, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Dentsply Sirona, in a press release today.
In this spirit, together with long-term partner Amazon Doctors, we have opened the first digital dental clinic in Bertioga, São Paulo, Brazil, an indigenous village located within the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.”
The clinic is equipped with advanced dental technology and equipment donated by Dentsply Sirona, including Primescan AC dental units and Sinius dental chairs. Dentsply Sirona said the clinic will be able to conduct approximately 40 dental appointments per week, covering multiple specialties such as restorative dentistry, endodontics and prosthetics. The clinic will utilize intraoral scanners, digital impressions and computer-aided planning systems for diagnosis, planning and treatment execution.
“By joining forces with Dentsply Sirona, we can create a better future for underserved communities. Together, we will improve oral health services and enhance the dignity, well-being and autonomy of indigenous peoples,” added Dr. Caio Machado of Amazon Doctors.
This new clinic exemplifies how Dentsply Sirona continues to drive change in the dental industry by supporting local communities in a sustainable way. The company’s goal is to provide long-term dental care to people in remote areas and bring health and dignity to communities in need – and it is in this spirit that the company is supporting this initiative in indigenous areas.
Amazon Doctors has been working with Dentsply Sirona for nearly 10 years as part of the global sustainability project Beyond: Action for a Better World.
During this time, teams have traveled more than 60,000 kilometers by boat, plane and road to improve oral health across Brazil, providing more than 100,000 dental treatments to 52 indigenous communities, according to Dentsply Sirona.
As part of the BEYOND initiative, Dentsply Sirona has also pledged to enable and empower 25 million smiles by the end of 2025. In addition to Amazon Doctor, the dental manufacturer is also working with other organizations such as Smile Train, Project 32, and TeamSmile to increase access to oral health.
