Dr. Sorin T. Teich, D.D., has been named dean of Northeastern Ohio Medical University’s Bitonte School of Dentistry. Dr. Teich will join NEOMED on July 1.
Dr. Teich joins NEOMED from the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dentistry in Charleston, where he served as professor and associate dean for clinical affairs.
“Dr. Teich is a well-respected leader in dental education and oral health,” said John Langell, M.D., Ph.D., president of NEOMED, in a news release.
I am confident that his exceptional record of accomplishment and commitment to student success make him the right person to direct the university’s new Bitonte School of Dentistry.”
Dr. Teich also holds adjunct academic appointments at the University of Southern California’s Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. Previously, he served as professor and associate dean at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Dentistry in Cleveland.
“I am honored to be named the founding dean of Bitunte Dental School,” said Dr. Teich. “I look forward to being part of the NEOMED community, welcoming outstanding students and exposing them to the latest innovations in dental medicine.”
Dr. Teich has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals on evidence-based dentistry and dental materials and lectures on these topics in the United States and abroad.
He is also the scientific associate editor for Quintessence International Journal and Dental Traumatology and has served on the editorial review board for the Journal of Dental Education.
After a stint in the military, Dr. Teich earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Hadassah School of Dental Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a certificate in restorative medicine from the same institution.
He is also a graduate of the Kellogg-Recanati International Executive MBA program and holds joint degrees from Tel Aviv University, Israel, and Northwestern University, Chicago.
