Pulpdent Corporation, a global leader in dental sales, research and manufacturing, is pleased to welcome Julia Berk Pirro to its executive team. In her new role, Berk Pirro will lead the company’s key growth initiatives and advance its goal of delivering a higher standard of dental care.
“Julia’s joining our executive team is an exciting time for Pulpdent and its 78-year history,” said Lew Berk. “Julia has strong business instincts and a passion for patient care.
Her experience in medical technology and strategic finance will bring a new dimension to Pulpdent as we pursue sustainable business growth while developing exceptional product options for our customers. She will make an immediate positive impact.”
Prior to joining Pulpdent, Berk Pirro served as Director of Commercialization and Senior Product Manager at CVS Health. In this role, she designed and optimized end-to-end care models and worked with business and external stakeholders to create cohesive, patient-centric programs.
Berk Pirro also gained public sector experience while at Mathematica Policy Research, where she worked on several public health initiatives for CMS, including oral health initiatives.
She has held leadership positions at startups and nonprofits, and holds an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
“I am honored to join the leadership team at Pulpdent, a company that manufactures world-class dental products in the United States, and to join the 140+ employees at Pulpdent to bring these products to market,” said Berk Pirro.
I am confident that our product roadmap, combined with our vision for business development that addresses the evolving challenges of private and multi-office dental practices, will further build on Pulpdent’s legacy of advancing dental care and patient services.”
Berk Pirro will be one of the third generation of the Pulpdent family to lead the company. Berk Pirro’s grandfather, Dr. Harold Berk, founded Pulpdent in 1947 with a vision to “save teeth and help patients live comfortably and smile confidently.”
Dr. Berk’s advancements in vital pulp therapy laid the foundation for Pulpdent to become a leader in dental product development. Years later, Dr. Berk’s sons committed to full manufacturing in the United States. This choice led to Pulpdent’s rise to become the leading dental materials producer in Watertown, Massachusetts.
As head of operations, Berk Pirro’s father, Donald Berk, was instrumental in the transformation of manufacturing processes and Pulpdent’s growth into a global distributor of solution-based dental products.
“Welcoming Julia to Pulpdent is a special moment for the company,” said Don Berk. “Her passion for leadership and patient care will help ensure the long-term stability of our dental research efforts.
She will be an advocate for our loyal customers and talented employees. As a father, it is an indescribable moment to see my daughter choose to bring her joyful energy to a company that our family has poured so much love into.”
Berk Pirro will immediately begin working on Pulpdent’s business development, including the global launch of ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE™ Bulk Flow at the International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany, March 25-29, 2025.
“From my experience with corporate and community projects, I know that healthcare can be complex,” said Berk Pirro. “But I’m the type of person who likes to get my hands dirty. It’s in the struggle to find win-win solutions that true healthcare innovation is born. I’m excited to start that journey today at Pulpdent.”
