Rylan Clark shared a humorous yet slightly mortifying experience after watching his new show, Dating Naked, on the big screen.
On his Radio 2 show, Rylan on Saturday, Rylan reflected on the premiere of Dating Naked, a Paramount TV series that he described as “Love Island without bikinis.” The show, which follows 10 singles searching for love while fully unclothed, had a special screening at an exclusive cinema.
Rylan couldn’t help but laugh about the shock he felt when he saw his famously bright smile magnified on the cinema screen. “I did a launch this week for my show, and we were in a cinema,” he recounted. “Seeing my teeth that big on a screen was frightful.”
Orna Merchant, who was chatting with Rylan on the program, tried to reassure him, saying, “Your teeth are lovely.” But Rylan humorously disagreed: “In real life they are. But 4K, 400 meters tall? Absolutely not. I thought I was watching Jaws.”
Rylan has previously spoken about the significant investment he made in his smile, reportedly spending £25,000 on dental work. He candidly admitted to the Daily Star that the transformation was both the “best and worst” decision of his life. “These teeth were the best and worst decision of my life,” he said. “For the first three months of Big Brother, I was a terrible TV presenter, but everyone was just talking about my teeth. By the time they stopped talking about them, I’d actually gotten good at my job. Literally, I learned on the job!”
Rylan’s love for cosmetic enhancements doesn’t stop at his teeth. The former X Factor star has been open about undergoing various cosmetic procedures, including Botox and fillers.
In his memoir, The Life of Rylan, he shared a particularly memorable moment when his overfilled lips started to “dribble” on live television after he laughed too hard. Reflecting on the incident during an appearance on This Morning, Rylan recalled, “The worst thing happened, though. I laughed and laughed so much that my lip burst open, and collagen filler started to dribble out. I’d had a bit too much filler put in the week before. The horror. Live on TV, and half my lip was spread across the floor.”
