Digital dental lab Dandy has launched new features designed to enhance real-time collaboration between dental offices and lab technicians. The additions enhance the company’s chairside care and case management software, enabling users to review and plan dental cases over interactive video calls.
Dandy’s new tools are designed to streamline the dentist/lab technician communication process, which has traditionally relied on a mix of email, phone calls, and paper communications, by allowing clinicians and technicians to connect as if they were working together in the same space.
A key feature of the update is “Live Design Review,” which allows both parties to view and interact with 3D case visualizations during a video call. Dentists can use the platform to consult with lab technicians, ask questions, suggest modifications, confirm case details, and approve designs before production begins.
Dr. Alexander Rabkin of Westwood Dental Partners said, “I recently experienced Dandy’s real-time design review feature and it was amazing! I’ve never seen a lab that can review a case with a technician in real time.
It was incredible to witness it in person – the technology is impressive and the appointment process was so seamless. The customer service was fantastic.”
Dentists can choose to start the consultation immediately or schedule it for a later date. In addition to routine follow-up appointments, Dandy also offers dedicated case planning consultations for complex restorations, as well as implant planning consultations with surgical specialists.
By using shared digital/CAD models, designs can be finalized prior to the production phase to minimize errors and improve patient outcomes.
Dandy has always been committed to providing exceptional service and outcomes for our customers. Real-time video collaboration is a natural extension of that commitment, giving dentists direct access to expert support when they need it.
By making collaboration faster, easier, and more accurate, we are helping practices deliver better care while growing their business.”
These features are currently rolling out to existing users in an early access phase.
