Align Technology has launched a new global campaign to build awareness of Invisalign treatment options tailored for children and teens.
The campaign, which targets consumers and dental professionals, is part of the company’s larger, year-long campaign to create 20 million smiles.
The consumer-facing campaign, called “Invisalign for Kids,” is designed to help parents understand the clear aligner options available for their young patients.
“Our new Invisalign for Kids brand campaign is designed to raise awareness among parents about Invisalign as an effective orthodontic option for children,” said Kamal Bhandal, senior vice president of global brand, consumer and Americas marketing at Align Technology.
The campaign will also educate parents about the benefits of Invisalign treatment for children and teens, he added.
According to the company, these options include the Invisalign First™ System, the Invisalign® Palatal Expander System, and the Invisalign® System with Mandibular Advancement.
Additionally, the campaign highlights the Invisalign® Virtual Care tool, which helps parents monitor their child’s treatment progress.
Titled “Growing Patients,” the professional event is designed to provide dental professionals with information about the various treatment options Invisalign has developed for younger patients.
The company noted that these options include aligner systems for early, interceptive treatment (Phase I) and comprehensive treatment (Phase II), and include retention strategies.
“As children and adolescents grow, orthodontic treatment needs to address both dental and facial skeletal development,” said Dr. Mitra Derakhshan, executive vice president and chief clinical officer of global treatment planning and clinical services at Align Technology.
“I believe the new ‘Invisalign for Kids’ brand and ‘Growing Patients’ campaign will help increase confidence in Invisalign treatment among the largest segment of the orthodontic market and further drive adoption of Invisalign by growing patients,” she added.
According to the company’s research, children between the ages of 6 and 10 may be candidates for Phase I orthodontic treatment, which helps guide facial and dental development and reduces the need for more intensive treatment in the future. Phase II treatment, which is typically performed after the permanent teeth emerge, focuses on adjusting the alignment and bite of the teeth.
Align Technology says these activities reflect its long-term commitment to pediatrics and build on past product innovations. In 2008, the company launched the Invisalign Teen system, designed to improve compliance and eruption management.
In 2017, the company released a version with mandibular advancement for Class II correction. In 2018, the Invisalign First™ system, designed for patients with mixed dentition, was introduced.
In 2023, the Invisalign Palatal Expander System became the company’s first directly 3D-printed orthodontic device, providing an alternative to traditional palatal expanders.
In 2025, the company expects to launch a new system with an integrated bite block, designed to support earlier and more efficient mandibular advancement.
“We are committed to supporting doctors at every step of patient care – from the first visit to achieving a lasting smile,” said Michael Smith, vice president of product management at Align Technology.
Insights gained from more than 20 million cases have provided valuable reference for the development of Align’s existing products, he added.
In addition to the Invisalign clear aligner system, Align Technology also produces the iTero™ intraoral scanner and exocad™ CAD/CAM software, which are integral to its digital orthodontic and restorative dentistry platform.
