Passion is defined as a strong desire or enthusiasm for something. I recently visited the workshop of master tailor Orazio Luciano in Naples, Italy. I was impressed by how passionate he was about his craft even though he was over 80 years old.
He proudly showed me the details of his jacket: the hand-sewn buttonholes (320 blankets to be exact), the unpadded “spalla camicia” shoulders, and the slight curve of the chest pocket – known as a “barchetta”. He worked on the jacket with passion. This experience made me realize the deep connection between passion and orthodontics. Like master tailor Orazio Luciano, we orthodontists bring the same emotion and dedication to our work.
