Dentsply Sirona is celebrating the tenth anniversary of WaveOne® Gold, a reciprocating endodontic file system designed for single canal shaping in endodontic treatments.
The product was launched in 2015 and remains part of the company’s broader endodontic portfolio and is used by clinicians in more than 130 countries, according to Dentsply Sirona.
WaveOne® Gold is made from a proprietary gold heat-treated alloy that, according to the company, offers increased flexibility and fatigue resistance.
These properties are designed to help practitioners better understand root canal anatomy and reduce chair time. The company reports that more than 200 peer-reviewed publications have studied the system’s clinical performance.
“Ten years of WaveOne® Gold is not only a product milestone, but also a reflection of our commitment to working with clinicians to improve care,” said Arjan de Roy, Vice President of Dentsply Sirona’s Primary Dental Solutions Group.
As the market leader in endodontic solutions, we are committed to providing solutions designed to ensure consistency in treatment procedures and confidence in the results for both clinicians and patients. With this move, we are committed to continuing to be a trusted partner in endodontic care.”
The file system is part of a larger investment by Dentsply Sirona in endodontic solutions, a field that dates back to 1889 when Maillefer was founded.
Today, Dentsply Sirona produces more than 140 million files per year and performs more than 3 million quality checks at its global production sites.
Its portfolio includes the ProTaper Ultimate® system for a variety of anatomies, and the TruNatomy® system designed to protect dentin.
The company says its instruments are designed to meet safety and performance standards, and its reciprocating systems are supported by more than 850 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
“As an endodontist, I rely on instruments that are precise, durable, and reliable,” said Dr. Reid Pullen, an endodontist and international lecturer in Brea, California. “WaveOne® Gold has been used extensively in both routine and complex cases.”
Dentsply Sirona also operates a global education network. Through the Dentsply Sirona Academy, the company reported that it delivered more than 2,000 endodontic education programs in the past year, including webinars, hands-on training, and scientific lectures.
According to the company, more than 35 million endodontic procedures are performed annually using its files. As WaveOne® Gold enters its second decade, Dentsply Sirona says it will continue to focus on delivering new technologies that are backed by scientific evidence and clinical performance.
