Dentsply Sirona has reached a long-term cooperation agreement with High Point University in the United States, and plans to integrate its advanced dental technology into the school’s dental education program starting in the summer of 2025. The cooperation aims to strengthen practical training and help students fully prepare for the modern dental clinical environment.
The cooperation focuses on the Workman School of Dental Medicine at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
The school will introduce a complete set of equipment and digital workflow solutions provided by Dentsply Sirona, including Intego treatment center, Primescan intraoral scanner, Primemill milling machine, Primeprint 3D printing equipment, CEREC software, Heliodent and Orthophos CBCT imaging system, as well as related consumables, dental handpieces, Cavitron ultrasonic scaler, X-Smart Pro+ kit and implants.
Dentsply Sirona will provide technical support for multiple locations covered by the project, including simulation clinics, digital laboratories and community education centers. Among them, the simulation clinic will be equipped with 66 advanced workstations equipped with Dentsply Sirona systems.
Bruce Peatey, Group Vice President of Dentsply Sirona Americas, said: “The future of dentistry lies in the seamless integration of advanced technology into education and practice. This collaboration with High Point University is a rare opportunity to transform dental education.
By equipping High Point University’s simulation clinics, digital laboratories and community centers with our advanced workflow solutions, we help students master the tools, technology and connected ecosystem required for modern dentistry.
Our goal is to enable High Point University graduates to not only be competent in clinical practice, but also become leaders in innovative, connected and patient-centered medical services.”
According to High Point University, its dental professional clinical education spans four years. In the first two years, students will conduct simulation training and limited clinical practice in community centers in High Point, Winston-Salem and Greensboro, and in the last two years, they will participate in clinical care full-time in these centers.
Dr. Kevin Kane, Senior Associate Dean of the Workman School of Dentistry, noted, “This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to our students.
By incorporating advanced technologies from Dentsply Sirona throughout their education, we are providing students with the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is leading the future of dentistry. This will ensure that they graduate with not only clinical skills, but leadership capabilities.”
As part of the collaboration, High Point University has named its simulation lab the “Advanced Simulation Lab Powered by Dentsply Sirona,” a designation that will apply to clinical centers in the three cities for the next 15 years.
“The collaboration between Dentsply Sirona and the Workman School of Dental Medicine combines innovative technology with real-world skills to drive change and advancement in healthcare and education,” said Ali Shaqib, DMD, of the Workman School of Dental Medicine.
This forward-thinking collaboration will provide students, faculty, and team members with a wide range of research, teaching, clinical, and quality assurance opportunities that will benefit patients and all stakeholders involved.”
